Tonic are currently searching for a General Manager for a large wet-led new venue in Glasgow city centre with a focus on cocktails, craft beers, live music and party atmosphere. This is a large venue and a perfect step towards a multi-site management role as the venue is owned by a large and growing group and sees an average turnover above £100k per week per site. The role involves working with 4 Duty Managers to drive this new venue forwards, it is essential that the General Manager is ambitious, tenacious and motivated.

This venue is opening in early 2020 and the projected start date for this position is February 17th to begin a 6 week training programme which will take place in another city in the UK.

First interviews may be before Christmas but are most likely to occur in the New Year.

This role offers a starting salary of £30k with a 10% bonus based on financial KPIs, the business offers a lot of progression and candidates can expect to earn additional bonuses and rises as they grow within the business, they are literally planning to build additional elements into this site so there is plenty of scope to progress.
This role also offers good work-life balance and the successful candidate could expect to work 2-4 evenings per week and around 8h per day (once the busy opening period is complete), 5 days each week. The idea is that General Managers vary their own rotas to ensure that they understand the business on a slow Tuesday afternoon and a rammed Friday night.

Candidates should demonstrate
  • Personality
  • Experience managing a team of at least 20
  • Experience operating a wet led venue which serves cocktails
  • Experience driving a high turnover within tight budgets
  • Understanding of Scottish licensing laws and authorities
