It’s good to give something back to the community, so when we were approached by Mary Stevens Hospice we were delighted to help.

The hospice, which provides specialist care and support for people living with incurable illness and their families, was struggling for staff and using local non-specialist recruiters to help them. After months of searching, it was no better off, so got in touch through a mutual contact to see if Tonic could help.

Having grown up in Stourbridge, managing director Conrad was familiar with the charity and only too keen to help, especially given that his aunt was a chef at the hospice.

In less than two weeks, using the same strategic process as we would use with a paying client, we sourced a candidate that we believed suited the role perfectly and placed them free of charge.

Hospice estate and facilities manager Barry Finlayson was delighted with the service. He said: “Conrad and the team at Tonic were incredibly helpful. We’d been struggling to recruit for the hospice for a while and within a couple of weeks of bringing them on board we were fully staffed.

“To provide us with such a brilliant candidate in such a short time was fantastic but to do it for free was a real act of kindness.”
