It’s a BIG double celebration today. Not only is today the day we see the majority of hospitality businesses opening back up, but Tonic is ALSO celebrating its 4th birthday and we cannot think of a better day to toast being part of this amazing industry!
It’s understandable that in the end not each business has approached re-opening after lockdown in the same way, with some waiting until as late as September. For them potentially having to close again because of test and trace, after just taking staff off furlough, is too high a risk, not to mention the logistics of making sure customers remain 1 metre away from one another.
Today the team at Tonic will all be approaching today differently too; a couple of us will be out celebrating in our much-missed pubs, eager to socialise, some will have a more tentative approach supporting hospitality businesses from home with a takeaway from their favourite restaurant. What we will all have, is a glass of something alcoholic in our hand at some point in the day!
It’s important that everyone feels comfortable with how they approach the time ahead. Whether you want to go out and eat in an indy, eat at a chain, would prefer to continue ordering-in, or you want to cook at home and have a bottle of wine from your local merchant that’s all great. It’s important that people aren’t judged for their choices, especially when every day we hear of job losses across the hospitality, catering and tourism sector – independent and chains. So go, support, in any way YOU can whether you stay in or go out!
As for Tonic, we’re chomping at the bit to get back at what we do best and LOVE; supporting exceptional candidates in their next career move and providing businesses we’re passionate about with those candidates. But that’s a given, right? More importantly, we’re here to advise, support and LISTEN at a time when we know you need it most. Our door is very much open, so please get in touch.
Finally, let us wish you all best of luck in navigating your way out of this and into the ‘new normal’. We’re raising a glass not just to celebrate our birthday, but to all hospitality businesses and their wonderful teams.
