Tonic are pleased to partner with our client to recruit an Assistant General Manager for a brand new competitive socialising venue opening in Liverpool. This is a genuinely exciting one. The venue blends multiple games-based activities with a strong bar and coffee offer, wrapped in a distinctive, playful design concept, and is aimed at everyone from corporate groups and conferences to couples and general walk-ins. You’ll join ahead of opening as part of the founding team, with a clear and rare route to General Manager within the first year as the site beds in and grows, followed by further progression as the group opens additional venues. With no General Manager currently in place, you’ll be working closely with the owners from day one and playing a genuine part in setting the standards, culture and systems the venue runs on.

What are we looking for from Assistant General Manager candidates?

• Experience within a high-volume, competitive socialising, leisure or activity-based venue
• Strong operational background, comfortable running a large, multi-department team (circa 20 heads across bar and floor)
• Confident with admin, reporting and spreadsheet-based management, this is genuinely important for this role
• Commercially minded, with an understanding of drinks-led P&L
• A leader who thrives on building something from scratch rather than stepping into an established operation
• Available to start around September or October
• Ambitious, with a genuine desire to grow into a General Manager role and beyond
