Tonic are assisting University College Birmingham in their search for a Kitchen Porter to join the opening brigade at Beyond, their new restaurant in Birmingham City Centre. Beyond is a commercial kitchen. It is not a training site and you will not be teaching. You will keep the kitchen clean, the pot wash under control and the deliveries away, and you will be treated as part of the brigade rather than an afterthought. The reason to take this one over any other KP job is what sits behind it. A university’s backing means the pay is salaried, the hours are set, and if you want to learn to cook there is funded training and somewhere to go next.

What are we looking for from Kitchen Porter candidates?

• Previous kitchen porter or commercial kitchen experience, or a genuine willingness to learn
• Able to keep pace and stay organised through a full service
• Understands basic food safety and cleaning standards, or is happy to be trained in them
• Takes pride in a clean kitchen and a tidy section
• Reliable and on time, every shift
• Available across a seven day operation, including evenings and weekends
