Tonic are pleased to partner with our client to recruit a Business Development Manager for their Conferences and Events operation, covering a split-site role across two iconic football stadia in the North West. Based primarily in Blackburn with one day a week in Preston, this is a high-profile commercial sales leadership position for someone who knows how to win new business and build lasting client relationships. You will own and deliver the C&E sales strategy end to end, driving year-on-year revenue growth through proactive outreach, key account management and standout customer experience. These are unique, well-established venues with real commercial headroom, and the business is investing in the right person to unlock it.

What are we looking for from Business Development Manager candidates?

  • Proven proactive sales experience within venues, hospitality, events or a comparable commercial environment
  • Strong commercial acumen, comfortable owning budgets, forecasts and revenue KPIs in a target-driven role
  • Confident, engaging leadership style with experience coaching and developing a sales team
  • Self-starting approach, able to identify new opportunities and convert insight into revenue
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills with credibility at senior stakeholder level
  • Customer-first mindset with a genuine focus on long-term client partnerships
  • Confident with CRM systems and sales analytics, Salesforce experience highly desirable
  • Organised, resilient and energetic, able to balance proactive selling with operational standards
