Tonic are searching for a Chef de Partie to join University College Birmingham’s new neighbourhood restaurant in Harborne. This is a commercial kitchen. It is not a training site and you will not be teaching. The menu is small plates built on exceptional fresh produce, which means real prep, real technique and food you will be proud to have your hands on. The rota is the other reason to look. Two fixed consecutive days off every week, no split shift because the bar trades through the afternoon, and one daytime service on a Sunday with an early finish. Kitchens at this standard do not usually come with that.

What are we looking for from Chef de Partie candidates?

• Experience as a Chef de Partie, or a strong Commis ready to step up, in a fresh food kitchen
• Able to run a section on your own through a full service
• Solid knife skills and genuine care with prep and mise en place
• Interested in produce and willing to learn a small plates style properly
• Sound on food safety, allergens and cleanliness
• Reliable, on time, and someone the rest of the brigade can count on
• Available Wednesday to Sunday, including evenings and the Sunday daytime service
